Grand Egyptian Museum USA (hereinafter referred to as GEMUSA) Terms and Conditions apply to individual, small-group, and group journeys, as well as Pre/Post journey extensions departures effective as of Saturday, January 01, 2022, until further notice.
GEMUSA will operate a maximum of five exclusive fully escorted private custom-designed departures immediately after the official grand opening ceremonies of the Grand Egyptian Museum making each traveler one of the very first to savor the experience. Each departure will operate with a maximum of 10 travelers to ensure social distancing protocols, within the first month of the official opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum in Giza, Egypt.
Travelers with date of departure conflicts are invited to utilize our expert private custom-designed travel to plan their private journeys to coincide with the soon to be newly opened Grand Egyptian Museum.
Each of the of five exclusive fully escorted private custom-designed departures are guaranteed to operate except only in cases of force majeure, which could include any major world event adversely affecting international travel patterns or other circumstances beyond GEMUSA's control.
The GEMUSA Price Guarantee applies to the five exclusive fully escorted private custom-designed departures. GEMUSA reserves the right to modify or cancel the GEMUSA Price Guarantee for future reservations without prior notice. GEMUSA's Price Guarantee becomes effective only once all journeys are paid for in full.

International and internal airfares, unless otherwise stipulated; costs associated with obtaining passports or entry visas, unless otherwise stipulated; reciprocity and other border fees; airport departure taxes; excess baggage charges; gratuities to the local English-speaking Field Coordinator and/or Egyptologist; meals other than those specified in the itinerary; beverages other than those specified in the itinerary; sightseeing not included in the published itinerary; and personal expenses such as laundry, communication charges, Internet access and optional activities (which are subject to availability).
Most hotels allow check-in to take place during the mid-afternoon. Should travelers wish to have a guaranteed room ready for immediate check-in upon arrival, that can be arranged for an additional charge. Please ask your GEMUSA luxury travel designer for details at the time of placing your reservation.
Travelers on each of the five exclusive fully escorted private custom-designed departures will be accommodated in Superior Rooms with private en-suite bathroom facilities at the luxurious Five Star Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at the First Residence. Room upgrades are available on request at an additional cost but in our opinion, unnecessary given the high standard of excellence at our selected property of choice. Specific requests such as adjacent or connecting rooms, bedding requests, smoking rooms and special dietary needs should be brought to the attention of your GEMUSA luxury travel designer at the time of placing your reservation. While every effort will be made to secure a special request, it cannot be guaranteed
GEMUSA reserves the right to modify itineraries, including arranged sightseeing, and substitute accommodations, including vessels, aircraft, and trains, at any time due to unforeseen circumstances or circumstances beyond GEMUSA's control. Every effort will be made to operate itineraries as planned, but alterations may occur after the final itinerary has been issued. No services will however be substituted with any service of an inferior nature. Occasions may arise where modifying an itinerary is due to crowd control and/or to avoid any (unlikely) nefarious activity. Consider this measure as GEMUSA always paying primary attention to its travelers' safety and security.
International airfare (to and from the originating and terminating point of the journey) is not included in program pricing. GEMUSA has special fare agreements with many air carriers and can offer quotations from most North American gateway cities.
Our airline of preference for our programs is Abu Dhabi based Etihad Airways. We encourage you to consider using our preferred contracted fares before visiting their website directly.
Some journeys require internal flights in the itinerary. This airfare is typically not included and must be purchased from GEMUSA using our preferred contracted fares. These flight reservations cannot be confirmed until a copy of the personal details of a passenger's passport is received by GEMUSA.
All air carriers are independent contractors and are not owned, managed, controlled, or operated by GEMUSA. Your airline ticket constitutes a contract between yourself and the airlines (and not GEMUSA), even if purchased through GEMUSA. GEMUSA is not liable for and does not assume responsibility or accept claims regarding, seat assignments, name changes, schedule changes, flight changes and/or cancellations. Should you change or cancel your air transportation arrangements before or after your travel begins, airline change and cancellation fees will apply for your personal account.
GEMUSA provides porterage of two (2) pieces of baggage per person. Should your journey include internal/domestic or charter flights your luggage allowance may be less than two (2) pieces of baggage and weight/size restrictions may apply.
Details will be provided in your Pre-Travel Documentation packet.
Baggage and personal effects are at the owner's risk throughout the travel program, and GEMUSA assumes no liability for lost or damaged baggage.
Please check with your international carrier for other baggage restrictions and fees applicable to your international flights directly.
Quoted program prices shown are per person and based on double occupancy unless otherwise stated. Although not expected, published prices may be modified due to unexpected significant external factors not anticipated at the time of printing.
GEMUSA is under no obligation (and will not) to give a breakdown in costs of any journey. Pre- and post-tour extensions are only available to guests booked on related group journeys. Modification of program content to accommodate a smaller group size will not affect the published program price unless we have specified a specific number of travelers for the program to operate.
It is not unusual in the travel and hospitality industry for service providers who determine prices of services to recommend full payment by a certain date to guarantee the published price. Should such instances arise, we will advise our passengers. The ultimate decision regarding how to proceed will be up to everyone. GEMUSA will not influence any travelers' personal decision.
There is no minimum age for children joining our private custom-designed travel journeys. However, all children under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Some activities contained within an itinerary may have a different age restriction than the overall minimum age requirement. Details will be provided at the time of booking. GEMUSA reserves the right to exceed a group size on family journeys to accommodate a family, particularly considering ever-popular 'generational travel' where grandparents take their children and grandchildren on a journey. Naturally, we will also apply 'standard group rates' to such parties which lead to significant savings.
Some active elements have been incorporated into select itineraries. To enjoy the trips as intended, a minimum level of fitness is required. GEMUSA will require prior notice if any participant has any physical or other condition or disability that would prevent them from participating in active elements of any trip and/or could create a hazard to him or herself or to other members of the group. GEMUSA reserves the right to decline acceptance of anyone whom it considers unsuitable due to fitness level. GEMUSA also reserves the right to remove from the journey, at the participant's own expense, anyone whose physical condition or conduct negatively impacts the enjoyment of the other guests or disrupts the tour.
GEMUSA does not offer 'Travel Insurance' within our portfolio. Our reason is because many of our travelers have their preferred supplier with whom they have worked over many years.
That said, GEMUSA, recommends that its travelers purchase a 'Travel Insurance' which provides against Cancellation for any Reason, Medical Coverage, Protection against Lost or Damaged Luggage, and any other items like 'flight delays' etc. they deem appropriate.
It is a known fact that 'Travel Insurance' must be purchased within 7-days of paying GEMUSA your deposit. Once purchased, please scan, and email us the policy to attach to your file.
No longer is 'Travel Insurance' only mandatory when traveling with GEMUSA, it is now a MANDATORY REQUIREMENT to enter the Arab Republic of Egypt (and most probably other global destinations).
Bottom Line (however harsh this might sound) – NO INSURANCE = NO TRAVEL.
This has become a part of the 'new normal'.
It is every traveler's sole responsibility to obtain and have available wherever necessary the appropriate valid travel documentation. All travelers are advised to check with the appropriate government authority to determine the necessary documents.
Without question, a valid passport is required for U.S. citizens traveling to all international destinations.
Passports must be valid for a minimum of six (6) months after the intended departure from the country one will have visited. This is an international rule and regulation. Passports should also have sufficient blank pages for the processing of visas and immigration stamps.
A visitors' visa IS required to enter the Arab Republic of Egypt. That visa is obtained at your point of arrival into the country.
Travelers on each of the of five exclusive fully escorted private custom-designed departures with GEMUSA have the cost of the visa included in their tour price (Please see the processing details of the visa in the description of Day 1 of the Itinerary).
All other travelers will receive their visa on arrival into Cairo International Airport. It is important to pay for the visa (currently US$25) in US CASH. No credit cards, foreign currency, or travelers' checks will be accepted as legal tender. PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE IN POSSESSION OF US$ CASH.
While no (usual) vaccinations are required to enter the Arab Republic of Egypt, travelers will not be permitted entry into the country without legal proof of having taking vaccination precaution against Covid-19 in addition to providing a printed negative PCR test certificate taken within 96 hours of departure to Egypt. The certificate must be written in English and stamped by an accredited laboratory.
All travelers must complete a Public Health Card on arrival in Egypt and show proof of health insurance on arrival.
We have all become accustomed to these ever-changing rules and regulations with regards to Covid-19. This information provided is valid as of January 01, 2022. Updated information will be provided by GEMUSA to every passenger 6-weeks prior to their departure.
ANY PAYMENT MADE TO GEMUSA CONSTITUTES THE TRAVELERS ACCEPTANCE OF THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS SET OUT HEREIN AND IN MORE SPECIFIC PRE-TRAVEL DOCUMENTATION, INCLUDING THE PASSENGER INFORMATION FORM.
A deposit of 25% per person is required to hold the confirmation and is due within 5-days of receipt of confirmation and invoice. You may pay your invoice in full at the time of reservation. Doing so will guarantee no price fluctuations. All prices are subject to change without notice until paid for in full in which case the GEMUSA Price Guarantee comes into effect.
Final payment is due 90-days prior to departure. Reservations made within 90-days of departure are to be paid in full immediately. GEMUSA accepts all major credit cards. Prices shown reflect a 3.5% discount for cash/certified check/money order/bank transfer payments.
Cancellations will only be accepted in writing and will become effective on the date of receipt by GEMUSA. Written (mailed) cancellations and/or email cancellations will suffice. Verbal cancellation will not be considered. Cancellations received by GEMUSA are subject to the following:
91 days prior to departure or more, a $500 p/p processing and handling fee will be forfeited
91 – 61 days prior to departure 25% p/p of total program price
60 – 31 days prior to departure 50% p/p of program price
30 days prior to departure or less 100% p/p of program price
This excludes any penalties applied by the airlines over which we have no control
Should a traveler cancel or terminate a journey (for any reason) and a roommate remains behind, an additional supplement may apply to the price for the remaining traveler to occupy single accommodation. This is up to the discretion of the hotel property and any additional payments must be made onsite. GEMUSA will not assume responsibility for such payments under any circumstances and our chosen partners are appropriately advised.
Additional hotel nights and other extra services booked in connection with GEMUSA programs are subject to specific cancellation penalties. That information will be provided at the time of booking and noted on the traveler's invoice.
Refunds are not considered for any purposely missed services, except for verifiable extenuating circumstances. Please see our Limits on GEMUSA's responsibility clause below. For verifiable claims to be considered, they must be received in writing within 30-days of the termination of the program and be accompanied by supporting documentation and/or a statement from the local destination company verifying the claim. Any adjustment considered will be based on the actual price of the services involved and not on a per diem basis.
Adjustments will not be made for unused sightseeing trips or meals. GEMUSA will not accept any liability for any claims that are not received within 30-days of the termination of your travel program.
GEMUSA, its employees, shareholders, officers, directors, successors, agents, and assigns, does not own or operate any property or entity which provides goods or services for your journey. It purchases transportation (by aircraft, coach, train, vessel or otherwise), hotel and other lodging accommodations, restaurant, ground handling and other services from various independent suppliers. All such persons and entities are independent contractors. As a result, GEMUSA is not liable for any negligent or willful act of any such person or entity or of any third person. In addition and without limitation, GEMUSA is not responsible for any injury, financial or physical loss, death, inconvenience, delay or damage to personal property in connection with the provision of any goods or services whether resulting from but not limited to acts of God or force majeure, illness, disease, acts of war, civil unrest, insurrection or revolt, animals, strikes or other labor activities, criminal or terrorist activities of any kind, overbooking or downgrading of services, food poisoning, mechanical or other failure of aircraft or other means of transportation or for failure of any transportation mechanism to arrive or depart on time.
if travelers decide to participate in any activities including, but not limited to, any excursions involving animals, riding on animals, SCUBA diving, snorkeling, hot air ballooning, zip-lining, high altitude treks, climbing, whitewater rafting, primate tracking and any activity which GEMUSA considers to carry inherent risk of serious illness, injury or death, then you fully understand and acknowledge that activities carry with them various inherent risks, including serious illness, injury or death and you take complete responsibility for your own health and safety and agree to assume all risks of injury, illness or death, whether foreseen or unforeseen, that may befall you as a result of participating in any activities and agree to release GEMUSA and its affiliates, their agents, employees and representatives from any liability whatsoever related thereto.
Further, as consideration for being permitted to participate in the activities, you release GEMUSA, whether known or unknown, from, and agree not to sue or make claim against GEMUSA for, property damage, cancellation of any activities for any reason, illness, negligent rescue operations or procedures, personal injury, or death arising out of your participation in the activities, and any activity related thereto, including transportation to and from the site of the activities, regardless of whether such property damage, illness, personal injury, or death results from the negligence of GEMUSA (but not its reckless, willful, or fraudulent conduct), and/or from any defect in equipment. You further agree to indemnify and hold GEMUSA harmless with respect to any claim made against GEMUSA by anyone else which (a) related to your participation, or (b) which would be subject to the above release and covenant not to sue if you had made the claim directly yourself.
It is the responsibility of the traveler to become informed about the most current travel advisories and warnings by referring to the U. S. State Department's travel website at travel.state.gov or by phone at 888 407 4747. In the event of an active State Department Travel Warning against travel to the specific destination location(s) of the trip, should the traveler still choose to travel, notwithstanding any travel advisory or warning, the traveler assumes all risk of personal injury, death or property damage that may arise out of the events like those advised or warned against.

The traveler represents that neither he nor she, nor anyone traveling with him or her, has any physical or other condition or disability that could create a hazard to himself or herself or other members of the tour. GEMUSA reserves the right to decline to accept anyone on a journey, and to remove from any journey, at his or her sole expense, anyone whose condition is such that he or she could create a hazard to himself or others, or otherwise impact the enjoyment of other travelers on the journey.

Smart North American travelers reserve their travel arrangements with us, not only because we set the standard in private custom-designed travel, but because all monetary exchanges take place on US soil and funds are held in escrow, a legal concept describing a financial instrument whereby an asset or escrow money is held by a third party on behalf of two other parties that are in the process of completing a transaction.
Given the volume of fraudulent transactions that take place in the 'virtual world' smart travelers concur that dealing with a conventional travel company is to the ultimate benefit of all parties concerned.
